Bill Spencer, formerly head of multi-asset trading for UBS AM in the US, has joined market operator MarketAxess in a newly created global role, head of client solutions.

Spencer will be responsible for the buy-side client experience with the MarketAxess trading system. Joining from UBS Asset Management, where he was most recently executive director, multi-asset centralised trading, he has been a keen assessor of third party platforms in fixed income markets, while also being instrumental in running lean trading operations and developing the next generation of traders for buy-side desks.

At UBS he was also the senior trader on the US-based Fixed Income Central Trading desk. In addition to the day-to-day trading of cash rates, credit, ETFs, and municipal bonds, Spencer was also tasked with the trading of credit derivatives and listed futures and options, giving him a wealth of insights across asset classes, trading tools, and strong relationships across the street.

Having worked for Transamerica and Prudential Financial early in his career, he joined Chicago Trading Company in 2010 as an exchange traded fund/derivatives trader, then taking a similar role at Gelber Group in 2015 before becoming head of ETF capital markets at Rex Shares. He joined UBS AM in 2019.
