Keenan Choy, formerly a primary markets fixed income trader with Wellington Asset Management in the US, has been active in developing primary market processes for the industry over the last decade.
A former Credit Suisse director, Choy joined Wellington in January 2013 and over the past 10 years has been instrumental in helping to lay the foundation and build-out of the firm’s unique buy-side fixed income syndicate function: working across multiple asset classes. He managed Wellington’s participation in over 4,000 new issues, including the largest IG (USD & EUR) and EM new issues.
He was also central to the firm’s digitisation of the new issue process, which has since become an industry standard, and led the development of a proprietary order management system for new issues. A specialist in ESG and sustainable debt, he is also a proactive supporter of the industry’s diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Choy left Wellington in June 2023 after over 10 years with the firm. He now joins Bloomberg, where he is starting a new position in fixed income primary markets. “I look forward to working with many of you again,” he said in a social media post.
