Veteran of fixed income trading, Juan Landazabal, was promoted to chief operations officer (COO) for investments at asset manager GAM at the end of last year, the business has confirmed.
Landazabal, who joined the firm five years ago as global head of trading, was most recently working as the global head of investment platform, making him responsible for the implementation, development and optimisation of the processes and platform for investments, from idea generation to trade execution.
The new role will see him lead the functions supporting the investment management and wealth management businesses.
Landazabal spent nearly a decade at Fidelity Investments where was head of fixed income trading, before moving to DWS Group as global head of fixed income & FX trading in 2013, prior to his departure for GAM.
The Swiss asset manager also appointed Elmar Zumbuehl as chief executive at the end of last year, after the board resigned, on the back of a failed takeover by Liontrust.
