ION integrates fixed income solutions into XTP Execution

ION has integrated its fixed income solutions with its XTP Execution service, expanding client access to futures markets for trading and market data.

ION’s XTP Execution (XTPE) offers integrated user management, advance order execution, direct connectivity to all major global exchanges and provides indirect access to local exchanges through its execution broker network. The automated front-office trade workflow solution was developed for cleared derivatives trading.

By integrating XTPE with ION Desktop and ION Bus, the firm’s fixed income clients will be able to access an extended range of futures markets, the firm stated. This development will reduce time to market to extra liquidity and reduce both support and infrastructure costs, it added, making global trading operations more agile and cost-efficient.

In addition, dealers will be able to access markets without being exchange members. Those who are already XTPE users for their futures commission merchant (FCM) activity will also be able to consolidate futures connectivity across FCM and fixed income business lines.

The integration has been developed in light of increased trading volumes and demand for a greater range of connectivity options, with ION reporting that a greater number of banks and brokers are using consolidated trading platforms to optimise their front-office efficiency and broaden access to liquidity across venues.

Tommaso Di Grazia, head of fixed income product development at ION Markets, commented: “We are in continuous dialogue with our clients to understand their evolving needs, such as the need for a consolidated trading platform that can transform front-office efficiency. In response, we are proud to have integrated our flagship fixed income solutions with XTPE. The integration will offer our clients the enhanced connectivity and agility they need to differentiate in a challenging market landscape.”

Francesco Margini, chief product officer for cleared derivatives at ION Markets, added:  “XTPE has long provided firms in the derivatives industry with centralised access to brokers and exchanges. We are delighted that our fixed income solutions clients will now also be able to enjoy this advantage through this latest integration.”
