KNG Securities, the fixed income investment banking boutique, has appointed former Barclays distressed and emerging markets (EM) debt specialist, Halila Mazin, as fixed income sales within its credit trading team.

The hire comes as KNG continues to expand in EM and distressed debt. Mazin’s experience in sales of high-yield corporate and emerging market credits to his network of institutional investors is seen as strategically important to the firm’s growth. KNG Securities specialises in trading illiquid fixed income securities, providing its institutional clients with tradable prices in challenging segments of the market. It has specific expertise in EM and distressed debt, which it uses to try and assist global investors in finding liquidity in hard-to-trade assets.

Halila Mazin joins KNG with over 20 years of experience in credit sales. He previously worked for 15 years at the investment banking arm of Barclays, in sales focused on credit markets. The appointment of Mazin follows the recent hire of Turkish fixed income expert Cagri Kutman, CIS specialist Igor Nartov and LATAM veteran Christian Laloe, further broadening KNG’s expertise in emerging markets. It also follows the recent hire of ex-Goldman Sachs distressed debt analyst Andrew Lee.

Andrea Podesta, managing partner, says, “Appointing Halila further enhances our team’s specialisation in both developed and emerging market high-yield credits. His longstanding relationships within the fixed income investment community will be a significant addition to our firm. We are thrilled to welcome such a talented professional to KNG”. Mazin says, “I am excited to be joining KNG, an ambitious firm that is growing in High Yield and EM. I am looking forward to helping them further expand their franchise and providing investment solutions to our clients.”
