BNP Paribas has launched a fixed income, currencies and commodities (FICC) global business line, bringing existing fixed income activities under a single umbrella. Arne Groes will lead the division, effective 1 October.

Through the division, the firm said it aims to “offer the most comprehensive and innovative solutions to clients as we continue our strategy to become the number one European markets house globally”.

Groes has been with BNP Paribas since 2008, and currently serves as co-head in macro and credit trading. His counterpart, Francisco Oliveira, is leaving the company.

Oliviera joined BNP Paribas from Credit Suisse in 2004 as head of Brazil fixed income trading, and has since held a number of senior roles at the firm. Alongside its announcement of the FICC business line, the company said: “Francisco Oliveira [has]decided to pursue new opportunities outside BNP Paribas.

“Over a 20-year commitment to the bank, he played an instrumental role in driving the success of our fixed income business and we wish him all the very best with his future endeavours.”
