Daniel Collins has joined Aurel BGC to head up its futures and options (F&O) rates team in Dubai, a month after winning a gold medal in the 2024 International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation European Championships in Paris.
“I’m incredibly excited to announce my new role at the BGC Group!” wrote Collins in a statement. “The powerhouse of the broking world, known for its global presence and dynamic trading floors. It’s an opportunity impossible to ignore. From my humble beginnings on as a junior on the dealing floor, it’s surreal to now have the chance to play a meaningful role in shaping the company’s business in Dubai and is an honour and also a huge challenge.”
Collins has two decades experience in the markets, and until November 2023 worked for Marex’s sale team, having previously spent a decade at TP ICAP and four years as a F&O broker at ED&F Man.
In the period between leaving Marex and joining Aurel BGC, Collins chalked up a gold medal in the IBJJF event, which he noted he had entered twice before, but had previously been knocked out in the first round both times.

“I can only control my preparation in the small steps to try and improve each day, I cannot control the outcome,” he wrote. “Whether I win or lose isn’t why I compete, I compete because I love what the process does for my mindset.”
