Clearstream, the post-trade service provider of Deutsche Börse Group, has reached a digital issuance volume of €10 billion on its digital post-trade platform D7.

The D7 platform has already processed more than 250,000 digital issues, and manages up to 15,000 new digital issues per week.

Jens Hachmeister, head of issuer services and new digital markets at Clearstream, said,“€10 billion of issuance volume on our D7 platform as well as the large number of securities already issued not only reflect the commitment and trust of our customers. They also underline the transformative potential of scalable digital solutions to improve market efficiency and liquidity.”

Many financial institutions have already connected to D7 and digitised their issuance portfolios of structured products and debt instruments. German development bank KfW recently used D7 to issue two benchmark bonds as central register securities: one in June (€4 billion, 3-year maturity), which was increased to €5 billion in September, and another in October (€3 billion, 7-year maturity).

Clearstream is also participating as a Market DLT Operator in the European Central Bank’s (ECB) tests to explore the potential of new technologies for wholesale digital payments with the goal of a central bank digital currency.
