Industry veteran, Carl James, has joined S&P as head of fixed income, for the Global Markets Group (GMG).
In a statement he said, “I am delighted to announce that I have joined S&P Global Market Intelligence as head of fixed income, part of the Global Markets Group. Really looking forward to helping the team develop their fixed income strategy to transform the future of primary and secondary markets.”
James was most recently global head of fixed income trading at Pictet Asset Management, a role he left in April, where he and his team created a highly data-led approach to trading and analytics through a combination of third party data sources and systems, desktop interoperability tools and in-house expertise and development.
S&P Global, which acquired IHS Markit in 2020, has a stable of platform and services that reach across the fixed income trading and investment landscape, including the IHS Markit suite of data and service products with the InvestorAccess bond issuance tools, markets research house Coalition Greenwich, and the thinkFolio investment and order management system.
These are in addition to its in-house ratings and research businesses. Collectively these cover a considerable range of buy- and sell-side trading functions, and combined could create a competitive suite of services to support investment and dealing functions.
