Experienced bond trader Tom Biscardi has been appointed senior open trading specialist at MarketAxess.
The trading platform reported US$42.9 billion in total average daily volume (ADV) in the first quarter of 2025. Its Open Trading facility allows all market participants to trade with one another anonymously.

Biscardi joins from US investment bank Samuel A Ramirez & Co, where he has been senior vice president for sales and trading since 2023.
With thirty years of experience, the bulk of Biscardi’s career has been split between Merrill Lynch and BlackRock. He spent more than 16 years at the latter, serving as vice president of fixed income between 2010 and 2023.
He joined Merrill Lynch as an assistant portfolio manager in 1995, moving to mutual funds a year later and spending close to five years as a fixed income trader for private investors.
