Simplex Trading has appointed Ben Londergan as managing director of strategic business development.
In the Chicago-based role, Londergan is responsible for driving the firm’s growth through developing partnerships and expanding core business into new products and geographies.
Londergan has more than 25 years of industry experience and joins Simplex from Optios, where he was managing director and head of the finance division. Prior to this, he was a senior advisor at Belvedere trading and a managing director for strategic investments and market ecosystem at PEAK6 Investments.
Earlier in his career, Londergan was CEO of LiquidPoint and Group One Trading. He has had a number of board positions, including a more than eight year tenure on the Cboe board and holding a seat at both MIAX Exchange Group and TraderTools.
Commenting on his appointment, Londergan said: “Simplex Trading has seen significant growth over the past 10 years, but there are some areas we can still target. Simplex Trading has excelled at building a business the right way, and this has been evident in the speed and scale of their growth over the last decade. Finding a role where I could wear multiple hats, and contribute in multiple ways, feels like a perfect fit.”
Erik Swanson, CEO of Simplex Trading, added: “Simplex Trading is excited to continue growing our business with Ben’s help. I’ve known and worked with Ben for many years and seen that he has the skills and expertise needed to expand Simplex in new directions.”
