Global alternative investment manager Ares Management has promoted Kevin Alexander to co-head of alternative credit.

The Ares Alternative Credit strategy holds approximately US$43.1 billion in assets under management. Existing co-heads in the division are Keith Ashton and Joel Holsinger.

Alexander has been a partner at Ares since 2019, before which he spent more than 16 years with Natixis CIB Americas. He held a number of senior roles at the company, including deputy CEO and head of global markets for the Americas.

Ashton commented: “In addition to scaling our investing capabilities, I am also excited that our enhanced leadership bench will facilitate greater engagement, education and thought leadership on the opportunities and outlook for the asset-based credit markets.”

Over his more than 25-year career, Alexander has worked at firms including Deutsche Bank, as an associate within the interest rate derivatives group, Arthur Andersen, as a financial consultant in the valuation services group, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, as an economic analyst in the research and market analysis group.

Alexander said: “I look forward to continuing to support my colleagues as we seek attractive investment opportunities that deliver compelling returns for both our investors and our communities.”
