Graham Capital appoints Jens Foehrenbach as president and co-CIO

Graham Capital Management, a hedge fund specialising in quantitative and discretionary macro strategies, has appointed Jens Foehrenbach as president and co-chief investment officer (co-CIO). 

Foehrenbach will collaborate with existing co-CIO Pablo Calderini to oversee the firm’s investment activities. He will also serve on Graham’s executive, investment, and risk committees, reporting directly to founder and chairman Kenneth Tropin. Foehrenbach will be based at the firm’s headquarters in Rowayton, Connecticut.

Foehrenbach has 25 years of experience in investment management. He spent the last 17 years at Man Group where he  latterly served as head of public markets within Man Group’s discretionary division, overseeing liquid discretionary hedge funds and active long-only strategies. From 2018 to 2023, he was CIO of Man Group’s solutions and Man FRM divisions. His earlier career includes roles as senior analyst and head of relative value at Harcourt Investment Consulting from 2004 to 2008. He started at UBS as a fixed-income trader. Foehrenbach holds a licentiate in business economics from the University of Basel and a degree in business administration from Bielefeld University and has been a chartered financial analyst (CFA) since 2005.

Graham Capital Management, founded in 1994 by Kenneth Tropin, manages approximately US$20 billion in assets. 

In conjunction with Foehrenbach’s appointment, Pablo Calderini, who has served as chief investment officer since 2010 and as president and CIO since 2012, has been promoted to vice chairman. He will continue to oversee the firm’s investment activities alongside Foehrenbach.
