The International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) has appointed Jeroen Krens as its new board chair, effective 1st of January 2025. He succeeds Eric Litvack who has held the position for the past ten years.

Krens is currently managing director and chief operating officer for markets and securities services at HSBC Bank. Before this, he spent more than five years at RBS Global Banking and Markets.

The leadership transition comes amid a renewed focus on digital transformation and regulatory compliance, the creation of the European consolidated tape, and the expansion of global derivatives market accessibility for ISDA.

ISDA CEO Scott O’Malia emphasised the importance of bringing greater automation and digitalisation to derivatives markets to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Litvack’s tenure marked a significant period of evolution for ISDA, characterised by critical market reforms and organisational transformation. Under his leadership, ISDA navigated complex challenges including the LIBOR transition and the implementation of post-crisis regulatory reforms.
