Simon McGhee has joined Virtu Financial, the electronic market maker, covering exchange traded products and fixed income sales trading. McGhee has worked in the exchange-traded product space since 2007, when he joined Barclays Investment Bank as a portfolio/exchange-traded fund (ETF) execution trader, after several years in sales trading.
A keen rugby player, he has twice taken career breaks to play the sport, once as captain on the Bank of England First XV RFC and most recently as a senior player for Harpenden RFC and a volunteer coach for the club’s youth sides.
Before that most recent break, McGhee was a partner at Bluefin Europe until January 2022, a firm he joined in 2014 as head of ETF business development.
Prior to joining Bluefin he had spent three years at BlackRock covering ETF business development and relationship management.
