On his new role, Hommeyer said, “Houlihan Lokey’s capital markets group is among the largest and most experienced private credit placement teams on the Street, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”

“The firm’s commitment to delivering private capital solutions comes during a time of great momentum in the space. I look forward to building upon its success in delivering best-in-class capabilities to its capital markets clients,” Hommeyer added.

Hommeyer spent nearly a quarter of a century at banking giant Morgan Stanley in a number of roles across fixed income and private credit. Most recently, he was leveraged finance managing director, head of private credit, between 2019 and 2023, where he established the firm’s private credit placement platform, executing debt and equity-linked transactions. In this role he oversaw all aspects of the business, including client management, lead generation, diligence, structuring, capital commitment, risk management and syndication.

Prior to that, Hommeyer was part of Morgan Stanley’s fixed income division focused on both leveraged loan and high-yield distribution

Managing director and global co-head of capital markets, Gregg Newman, said, “Private credit has become one of the fastest-growing asset classes in the market, with an explosion in the number of investment managers and strategies, so adding someone of Michael’s calibre to coordinate our coverage and outreach is critical to our success. Michael brings a depth of relationships and credit sector knowledge that will be a great asset to our capital markets clients.”

Over the past two fiscal years, the capital markets group has raised approximately US$26 billion in capital and advised on an additional US$9 billion in capital over a total of more than 250 transactions with more than 110 different financial sponsors.
